Great part-time work for artists, parents, freelancers, entrepreneurs, or anyone who wants to earn good money without taking on another traditional job.
Do you like working independently?
Would you rather have flexibility and freedom than a set weekly schedule?
Do you enjoy work where you can put on your favorite music or podcast, settle in, focus, and make the hours count?
Are you highly detail-oriented—the kind of person who notices the little things other people miss?
Do you want to earn meaningful extra income while still having time and energy for your work, art, family, projects, or whatever else matters to you?
This may be a great fit.
We’re looking for reliable, independent-minded people to join our team and help prepare our clients’ kitchen cabinetry for professional refinishing throughout the greater Portland area.
Our company specializes in spraying beautiful new finishes on existing cabinetry inside our customers’ homes. Before that can happen, everything surrounding the cabinetry needs to be carefully masked, covered, and protected.
That’s where you come in.
Your job is to create a clean, precise work environment by protecting everything that isn’t being refinished. It’s detailed, hands-on work that rewards patience, focus, organization, and the satisfaction of doing something exceptionally well.
Once you understand our process, much of the work is independent. Put on your music, audiobook, podcast—or enjoy the quiet—and get into a rhythm.
Why this position is different

This can be an especially good fit for someone who already has something else going on in their life—a creative pursuit, freelance work, another business, family responsibilities, school, or simply a desire to maintain more control over their time.
You may be a great fit if you are:
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working independently
- Patient and methodical
- Good with your hands

Experience in painting, construction, finishing, or the trades can be helpful, but the right temperament matters just as much to us as your résumé.
We can teach a process.
What’s harder to teach is care, reliability, attention, judgment, and pride in your work.
A little about us
We believe work should be part of a good life—not the entirety of one.
We’re trying to build a different kind of small company: one where good people are paid well for their time, trusted to work independently, and given enough freedom to have full lives outside of work.
We believe there is dignity in doing simple things exceptionally well. We value craftsmanship, attention, reliability, and taking pride in what you leave behind.
But we don’t believe those things require micromanagement, rigid schedules, unnecessary hierarchy, or spending 40 hours a week somewhere simply because that’s the way work has traditionally been structured.
Some of the most interesting and capable people we know are artists, parents, craftspeople, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and independent thinkers—people with other ambitions, responsibilities, curiosities, and interests that matter deeply to them.
We want this company to be a place where those people can do excellent work without having to give up the rest of themselves to do it.
That freedom comes with responsibility.
We give our people a lot of independence and flexibility. In return, we’re looking for people we can trust—people who show up when they say they will, care about the quality of what they leave behind, communicate well, and don’t need someone standing over their shoulder to do great work.
If you’re looking for a traditional full-time job with the same schedule every week, this probably isn’t it.
But if you’re looking for high-paying, flexible work that fits around your life instead of taking it over—and the way we think about work resonates with you—we’d genuinely like to hear from you.
